Hi,

There's no need for a vesa driver. The software accel code is always
included.
hmm, whats w/ other vesa cards not supported yet ?
What do you mean? All cards that work with vesafb work with DirectFB.
Probably I'm missing something, but I think about an equivalent
to mplayer's vesa driver or libsvga. Aren't there vesa-speaking
cards out there, which do not have their own driver yet.

If there is a card that doesn't have its own driver in DirectFB it (dfb) will use vesa to get the card to do what it wants. The DirectFB drivers are for cards whose 3D & acceleration functions are available. So a card that doesn't have a dfb driver uses software rendering through the vesa modes.
