Hi David! The black thing moving that you saw was most probably your console mouse... did you hut down gpm before running xdirectfb. XDirectfb be default only looks at your ps/2 mouse and nothing else... I do not know about how do you enable support for gpm in it. Most probably it just looks at /dev/psaux and does its job. Before running xdirectfb you may try /etc/init.d/gpm stop and then start xdirectfb xdirectfb does not support quite some essential X extensions (GLX, XINPUT, XVideo) which are essential for KDE to run. So unless these are included you may safely forget running KDE over xdirectfb... Infact, I was wondering myself. Would it ever be possible to run KDE over directfb directly? ...because of the number of X-extensions kde seems to use... It would be really nice if somebody could throw light on this. I've managed to get it running but I've got no real mouse support - there's a fixed cursor in the middle of the screen and moving of the mouse creates some black square. The main problem is something different though - most KDE applications are crashing - I see some windows and parts of the desktop but it's nothing usable.-- Even in my dreams, I am an idiot who knows he is about to wake up to reality, I can only avoid sleep; I can't try to tell myself what to dream... try to change that to flying... something free.... never works. --David Aames, Vanilla Sky -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to ecartis@directfb.org with "unsubscribe directfb-users" as subject.
