[directfb-users] Re: Getting XDirectFB to work
The black thing moving that you saw was most probably your console mouse... did you hut down gpm before running xdirectfb. XDirectfb be default only looks at your ps/2 mouse and nothing else... I do not know about how do you enable support for gpm in it. Most probably it just looks at /dev/psaux and does its job. Before running xdirectfb you may try /etc/init.d/gpm stop and then start xdirectfb
xdirectfb does not support quite some essential X extensions (GLX, XINPUT, XVideo) which are essential for KDE to run. So unless these are included you may safely forget running KDE over xdirectfb...
Infact, I was wondering myself. Would it ever be possible to run KDE over directfb directly? ...because of the number of X-extensions kde seems to use... It would be really nice if somebody could throw light on this.

I've been trying to run XDirectFB but I didn't have much success yet. I've managed to get it running but I've got no real mouse support - there's a fixed cursor in the middle of the screen and moving of the mouse creates some black square. The main problem is something different though - most KDE applications are crashing - I see some windows and parts of the desktop but it's nothing usable.--

I can't try to tell myself what to dream... try to change that to flying... something free.... never works.
