Using video=rivafb: etc. as a boot parameter will only work if you have the 
module built into the kernel. With a loadable module, you need to specify the 
screenmode as an option when calling modprobe (if the rivafb driver will 
allow it). Alternatively, use fbset to change the screenmode after the driver 
is loaded.
