Just curious, has anybody tied to get fusion into the vanilla kernel?
If so, can the author do this?
I want to finish the documentation first and make sure that future
versions will be binary compatible.

Well, that is indeed a good idea! :-) I get the impression that getting a patch into the kernel is hard enough, no need to make it more difficult.

If fusion is not accepted into the vanilla kernel, it would be helpful
to me if the author could try to get the fusion patch into the packaged
debian kernel.
This would be cool, too. There should be a libdirectfb-multi package then.
Would there have to be? Couldn't the libdirectfb0 deb use multi by default? I was under the impression that a directFB app doesn't need to care if it's using a --enable-multi version of the library?
I think that the fusion patch would have to be standard for all Debian kernels though if that was the case. If only one directfb app is launched, what happens if a multi-app enabled libdirectfb can't find the character device for fusion?

I'm really interested in your experiences in trying to get the patch into the Debian kernel.

The reason is that I'm working on a GNUstep OS distro which will use
DirectFB by default. It is basically a Debian system with lot's of
extra packages.
Cool, I once checked it out, but didn't have 20GB to build it.
Hehe, those days are gone. It's Debian Sarge based now. I was pretty stupid for trying to start a distro from scratch when Debian Sarge was right there waiting....

Thanks!

Chad
